Premium Model H Nixalite is our stainless steel, half row bird control spike that deters all pest birds, in all infestation levels and on surfaces less than 2" (5.1cm) deep. It repels ALL birds including pigeons, seagulls, sparrows, starlings, swallows, black birds, crows, and vultures. Combine with Premium Model S on wider surfaces to achieve proper surface coverage and protection. Blunt Tip option is available.

These flexible spike strips effectively deter all bird species, regardless of infestation severity, and are suitable for all types of architectural surfaces. Effective installations help eliminate the high costs of cleaning and structural maintenance caused by pest birds and their unsanitary habits, while also protecting people from the health risks associated with bird waste. There are three (3) separate Premium Nixalite Bird Spike Models; the Model S, Model H and Model W. Each model is designed to fulfill a specific bird control need or application. Nixalite has manufactured these unrivaled bird spike strips since 1950 - there are no approved equals and there are no substitutions allowed. There are three (3) Premium Nixalite Bird Spike models available; Model S, Model H and Model W. There is no equal to Nixalite’s Premium All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes. Nixalite Bird Spike Mounting Hardware: The Nixalite designed stainless steel mounting clips are combined with other fasteners to hold the Nixalite Premium Bird Spikes to all types of architectural surfaces. All standard bird spike mounting hardware is made of stainless steel or non-corrosive materials. Surface Cleaning System: disinfectants and deodorizers to neutralize potentially hazardous bird and/or animal wastes and prepare the surface for installation. 1.2 - QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Surface dimensions are what drive Premium Nixalite Bird Spike quantities. C. Specified bird spikes must be Made in the USA from materials processed in the USA. No substitutions allowed. D. Contractor to provide the Nixalite Certificate of Authenticity issued by Nixalite of America Inc after ordering the Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes. This provides information that will be required to receive project close out documentation. 1.3 - SUBMITTALS A. Manufacturers planning and estimating literature including for the Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spike model or models. B. Use above surfaces less than 2” in depth (5.1 cm) or over other Nixalite Models when specified. Use in conjunction with Premium Nixalite Model S for climbing animal barrier and mud-nest building bird control applications. G. Finish: Natural stainless-steel finish or manufacturers ColorCoat finish. H. ColorCoat: Standard ColorCoat colors are black, white, gray, tan, brown and bronze. Choose the standard color that best suits application. Custom colors available. Contact Nixalite of America Inc for custom color matching procedures. 2.3 – NIXALITE BIRD SPIKE MOUNTING HARDWARE A. To be made of stainless steel or non-corrosive materials. Nixalite bird spike mounting hardware is supplied with Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spike Models in set quantities. Bird Spike Mounting Hardware to allow for bird spike strip installation, removal and reinstallation without damage to the installation surface, the spikes or hardware. B. Use the Nixalite Bird Spike Mounting Hardware that best suits the installation surface. All hardware is made of either stainless steel or non-corrosive materials. Installation Surface Nixalite Bird Spike Mounting Hardware Masonry, stone, concrete; Mounting clip, sheet metal screw, masonry anchor Wood, plywood, shingles; Mounting clip, sheet metal screw, washer Sheet metal, plastic, PVC; Mounting clip, sheet metal screw, washer Steel, cast iron, brass, bronze; Mounting clip, drive screw, washer Pipes, cables, conduit, grates; Wire tie, wire tying tool, adhesive C. Apply adhesive or sealant in all holes that penetrate the installation surface. After mounting hardware is installed, apply additional adhesive or sealant over the heads of the sheet metal screws and/or the drive screws. Do not get adhesive or sealant in the hook end of the mounting clips. D. Glue Clips & Adhesive: If surface conditions do not allow for the use of the Nixalite Bird Spike Mounting Hardware, the Glue Clip and Adhesive installation method can be used. Follow the Glue Clip installation instructions available from the manufacturer. 2.4 – SURFACE SANITIZING AND DEODORIZING A. Nixalite of America Inc offers several different broad spectrum surface sanitizers and deodorizers to help protect your people from the hazards of pest bird waste. Contact Nixalite for recommendations on the proper sanitizing product for your application. B. Safety Equipment: Nixalite offers personal protection equipment (PPE) to protect personnel from the hazards related to pest bird and animal waste materials. Contact Nixalite for details. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 - INSPECTION A. Visually inspect all installation surfaces. Make sure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from debris or other conditions that could impede the workflow of this section. All surfaces must be sanitized and deodorized before Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spike installation. B. Notify architect of detrimental conditions. Do not proceed until these conditions have been corrected. 3.2 - PREPARATION A. Field Measurements: Verify the dimensions for each surface specified for Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes. Use manufacturers Planning and Estimate guidelines to verify sufficient quantities of bird spike strips will be installed on each surface specified for bird control. B. Make sure all installation surface finishing requirements have been accomplished before installing Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes. Bird spikes are to be the last items installed on each specified surface. Do not apply any surface coating or treatment (paint, sealer, etc.) over the installed spikes or mounting hardware. C. Remove or relocate all plants, foliage or foreign objects that overhang the installation surfaces. Note all conditions that could adversely affect the installation and performance of the Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes installation. 3.3 – SURFACE CLEANING A. All surfaces to be clean, dry and free of obstructions before the Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes are installed. B. If Bird Waste Is Present: Treat, neutralize and safely remove all bird waste from installation surfaces. Installer must follow all municipal, state and federal regulations regarding the proper removal and disposal of bird droppings and waste materials such as nests and dead birds. C. Use Nixalite’s surface cleaning products to neutralize any bird droppings, nests and related waste materials that may be present. Strictly follow treatment instructions provided with Nixalite’s surface cleaning products. D. Use Nixalite cleaning products to help prevent disease transmittal when working around surfaces contaminated with bird droppings. 3.4 - INSTALLATION A. Make sure the installation surfaces are clean, dry and free of any debris or obstructions. B. Install specified Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spike Models in strict accordance with manufacturer’s estimating, spacing and installation guidelines. Protect all surfaces where pest birds can land, roost and nest. C. Install Nixalite’s bird spike models so they will protect the entire surface, not just the outside edges. No gaps are allowed in the bird spike strip coverage. Cut the bird spike strips where necessary to fit the surface properly. D. Wires of Premium Nixalite Bird Spike Models must extend over outside edges of each surface by at least 1/4” (0.6cm). The bird spike base strip must extend over the ends of each surface by at least 1/2” (1.2cm). E. Fasten Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spike Models to the surface with the Nixalite Bird Spike Mounting Hardware recommended by the manufacturer. Follow the hardware spacing guidelines and installation procedures supplied by manufacturer. F. Climbing Animal Barrier Installations; All climbing animal barrier installations use the standard pointed wire Premium Nixalite Model S and Model W bird spike strips. Do not use flat or blunt tip spikes for climbing barriers. Installed in multiple rows, these Nixalite spike models can repel the most determined climbing animals. Contact the manufacturer for climbing animal barrier installation guidelines. 3.5 – ADJUSTMENTS / CLEANING A. Remove debris and waste materials from project site. Inspect finished installation. Make any adjustments needed to conform to Nixalite’s spacing and installation guidelines. B. Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Barrier Spikes are a physical and passive barrier. They rely on the system of pointed stainless steel wires to deny pest birds and nuisance animals access to the surfaces on which they are installed. Periodic inspections are recommended to keep the bird spike strips in good condition. 3.6 – POST INSTALL A. Contractor to provide the Nixalite Certificate of Authenticity issued by Nixalite of America Inc after ordering the Premium Nixalite All Stainless-Steel Bird Spikes.
