Spec SheetThe Square D CC39.6 thermal overload relay is engineered to safeguard motors, controllers, and branch-circuit conductors from excessive heating caused by extended motor over-currents. It responds to overload conditions based on trip curves, with a typical trip time of 20 seconds or less. The relay features a one-piece construction where the motor current passes through a small heater winding. Under overload conditions, heat melts a special solder, allowing a ratchet wheel to spin free and open the control circuit contacts, thereby disconnecting the motor.
