Belden broadens edge connectivity, PoE switching and fiber infrastructure portfolio

A portfolio update across the IT/OT edge

Belden announced a set of product launches and line extensions on August 27, 2026, covering industrial device connectivity, wireless administration, managed switching, high-density fiber and life-safety cabling. Rather than a single-platform release, the update combines components used at several layers of an IT/OT deployment: field instrumentation, access switching, wireless infrastructure, backbone connectivity and emergency-system cabling.

For procurement and engineering teams, the practical value is in identifying where a consolidated bill of materials may simplify a project. The announcement also requires careful product-by-product review: some additions are limited to particular regions, and the cable items address standards that may not apply to North American installations.

HART gateway increases field-device aggregation

The ProSoft Technology PLX51-HART-8I is an isolated eight-channel HART input module that interfaces HART devices with EtherNet/IP or Modbus communications. ProSoft states that each channel can support up to eight HART devices in a multidrop arrangement, for a maximum of 64 devices per module.

This may be relevant when a controls team needs to retain installed HART instruments while exposing process and diagnostic information to Ethernet-based control architectures. The unit also supports voltage and current input options, while its dual Ethernet ports can be configured for linear or Device-Level Ring topologies. Design teams should still validate actual HART device addressing, update-rate expectations, control-system driver requirements and enclosure conditions before replacing multiple existing gateways with one module.

PoE+ and low-voltage DC options address different switching needs

Belden said its Hirschmann IT MTS2608 and MTS2708 managed switch models are now available in the Americas and EMEA. The eight-port Gigabit models include four 1/10 Gb SFP+ uplink slots, and Belden positions them for converged industrial and enterprise environments. The MTS2708 model adds IEEE 802.3at PoE+ on its access ports with a stated 125 W power budget.

A 125 W aggregate budget can be useful for a modest group of PoE endpoints, but it is not a substitute for a port-by-port power calculation. Installers should account for each endpoint’s maximum draw, startup behavior, cable length and voltage drop, then preserve headroom for future additions. Separately, the Hirschmann GREYHOUND GRS2000 line gains a low-voltage DC supply option intended to connect directly to existing DC rails in environments such as substations, trackside systems and process facilities. That option may reduce conversion hardware, but engineers must verify the specific switch configuration, input characteristics and site power-protection design.

I/O and wireless management move attention to the access layer

Belden’s LioN-X IO-Link analog hubs combine four independently configurable analog connections—supporting voltage, current, resistance or thermocouple use—with eight digital inputs. Belden states that the hubs are powered over IO-Link, eliminating the need for an additional supply or M12 L-coded connection in the described arrangement.

The configuration is notable for retrofit work, where analog sensors may remain in service alongside newer IO-Link infrastructure. It can centralize mixed analog and digital signals close to a machine, but teams should confirm signal type, sensor supply limits, IO-Link master compatibility, environmental rating and cable routing before standardizing on the approach.

The company also introduced Belden Wireless Orchestration, a software WLAN controller for compatible Belden enterprise, outdoor and industrial access points. Its product information lists centralized provisioning, firmware management, authentication options and wireless intrusion detection and prevention functions. For security teams, centralized management can improve operational consistency, but it does not remove the need for segmented network design, access-point hardening, controller resiliency and a tested firmware-management process.

Fiber density and life-safety cable come with regional caveats

For fiber infrastructure, Belden expanded its ACX family with a 4U panel and 12-port MPO adaptor strip. The company says the solution supports preterminated and splice applications, with capacity stated as 384 fibers and 192 MPO-12/8 ports in 4U. However, Belden explicitly identifies this addition as APAC-only, so U.S. buyers should not assume ordering availability or local support without confirming it through an authorized channel.

Belden also expanded its Safe-T-Line cable range with shielded and unshielded constructions carrying EN 50200 PH120 and CPR Cca designations. These claims matter for fire alarm, evacuation and emergency communications work where circuit integrity and construction-product requirements apply. They should not be treated as a universal approval for a U.S. life-safety installation: cable selection must follow the adopted local code, listing requirements, system manufacturer instructions and authority-having-jurisdiction review.

Taken together, the announcement gives integrators several new options for edge modernization. The strongest near-term opportunities for North American networking projects appear to be the HART gateway, LioN-X analog hubs, Wireless Orchestration and MTS switch availability, subject to final specification and channel confirmation.
