The Fostex HP-A4BL is a high-resolution DAC and balanced headphone amplifier. It features a single headphone channel with recommended impedance ranging from 16 to 600 ohms. The device provides up to 300 mW of headphone output power, with 300 mW into 32 ohms as maximum. Audio inputs include 1/4" / XLR 4-pin balanced (headphone) and RCA (I/O). The form factor is tabletop. Analog audio I/O includes 1x 1/4" TRS unbalanced headphone output, 1x XLR 4-pin balanced headphone output, and 1x stereo 2RCA line output. Digital audio I/O consists of 1x TOSLINK optical S/PDIF input and 1x TOSLINK optical S/PDIF output. USB-B 2.0 is also included. The frequency response for RCA outputs is 20 Hz to 80 kHz ±3 dB, while headphone outputs have the same range with a 32-ohm load. THD+N for headphone outputs is less than 0.04% (1 kHz), and for RCA outputs it is less than 0.01% (1 kHz). Sample rates support up to 192 kHz (PCM) and up to 11.2 MHz (DSD).
