This filter reduces light intake during lunar observation, enhancing view and contrast.
The lens is multi-coated with seven-layer optical coatings. It fits most 2" eyepieces and has female threads for stacking with other filters. The optical density is 0.9, with 12.5% transmission and a reduction factor of 8. It is suitable for viewing the moon shortly after half-moon. The filter can also be used for solar viewing as a secondary pre-filter with a dedicated solar filter.
