Multi-Purpose Device (MPD)

Los Multi-Purpose Device (MPD) is a versatile tool that serves as a pulley, rescue belay device, and descent control device, allowing rescuers to switch between lowering and raising operations without needing to change hardware. This innovation was developed over more than nine years of research and engineering, resulting in a patented MPD that integrates multiple essential functions into one compact unit. By simplifying rigging processes and reducing the number of required pieces of equipment, the MPD enhances operational efficiency during technical rescue scenarios.

The MPD is equipped with a high-efficiency pulley that includes an integrated rope-locking mechanism, making it suitable for use as a lowering device, rescue belay system, descent control unit, and ratcheting pulley for hauling operations. This design allows main line and belay systems to be set up in mirrored configurations or adapted for twin-tensioned operations, which reduces the complexity of rigging and the training needed by rescuers. The MPD is particularly useful in confined space rescue situations where it can quickly transform into a retrieval system without requiring reconfiguration of existing hardware.
