McLeod Tool

Los McLeod Tool is a versatile wildland firefighting and trail maintenance tool designed to clear vegetation, construct fire lines, and manage ground fuels with maximum efficiency. Combining a heavy-duty rake on one side and a sharpened hoe blade on the other, the McLeod allows firefighters to quickly switch between digging, scraping, raking, and clearing tasks without changing tools. This dual-purpose design is specifically tailored for the demanding conditions of wildland firefighting, where time and effectiveness are critical.

A staple of wildland firefighting operations, the McLeod is ideal for creating fire breaks, removing combustible vegetation, cutting through roots and sod, and exposing mineral soil to help slow or stop the spread of fire. Its long handle provides excellent leverage and reach, making it equally valuable for forestry work, trail construction, and land management applications. The tool's durability ensures it can withstand the harsh conditions encountered in outdoor environments, from dense underbrush to rocky terrain.

The McLeod Tool is engineered with a combination rake and sharpened hoe blade that offers a wide range of functions, including raking, scraping, digging, trenching, and fire line construction. The hoe blade is designed to cut through brush, roots, sod, and compacted soil, while the rake side clears leaves, debris, and combustible vegetation. This makes it an essential piece of equipment for firefighters and land managers who need a reliable tool that can adapt to various tasks during operations. Its applications extend beyond firefighting to include trail maintenance, forestry, and land management, where the ability to clear and manipulate ground fuels is crucial.
