Elastimold 167ESA-3 is an insulated shielded elbow surge arrester rated for 15 kV and 200 amps, featuring EPDM molded rubber construction.

Elastimold 167ESA-3 elbow surge arrester provides high voltage lightning and switching surge protection for transformers, cables, and other components commonly found in underground power distribution systems. It operates at a maximum discharge voltage of 14.5 kV and an RMS MCOV surge rating of 2.55 kV. Made from EPDM molded rubber, the arrester is fully shielded and submersible, enabling use in a variety of applications. Its compact size allows it to fit into existing cabinetry setups, reducing retrofit costs. The device includes a No. 4 AWG ground lead tethered to the jacket, capable of withstanding 10,000 amps for 10 cycles without fusing. IEEE 386 interfaces provide convenient connections with other 200 amp loadbreak or deadbreak components. The ground lead also controls the end plug upon ejection, preventing uncontrolled movement and maintaining the housing shield ground connection after failure.
