Alpine Astronomical Baader Methane Imaging Filter (1.25")

This filter is designed to pass the near-infrared methane wavelength centered at 889nm with a narrow 8nm bandpass. It is used for imaging gas giants such as Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune. The filter enhances contrast of planetary features dominated by methane and aids in capturing changes. It uses a planeoptically polished Schott RG 830 optical glass substrate and dielectric multi-coatings to ensure precise bandpass for optimal image quality. Imaging through the filter requires longer exposure times due to band absorption. The filter is mounted in a standard 1.25" eyepiece filter housing. Included is a plastic case.
