The NFPA Throwline is a high-visibility floating rescue rope specifically designed for water rescue operations and engineered to meet NFPA standards for throwline performance. This rope is constructed with a Dyneema® core and polypropylene sheath, which together provide a lightweight yet highly durable product that performs well in both moving and still water environments. Its design ensures it can be easily handled by rescuers while maintaining the strength needed for critical rescue operations.
A throwline is one of the most effective tools for reaching and assisting victims during water rescue incidents. It also serves as an important downstream safety backup when rescuers must enter the water. The bright yellow rope with red tracer offers excellent visibility, helping rescuers quickly locate and deploy the line during emergency situations. This visibility is crucial in low-light or high-stress environments where quick decision-making is essential.
To meet NFPA requirements, the entire length of the throwline is designed to float to the surface within one minute after a 24-hour immersion in water. This feature ensures that the rope remains usable even after prolonged exposure to aquatic conditions. The rope is sold by the foot and includes finished rope ends at no additional charge. Custom lengths are available with no cutting fees, making it a flexible option for different rescue scenarios and equipment configurations.
