The NAV-PAC is a solid-state power protection and backup system designed to provide clean, stable, and uninterrupted DC power to sensitive onboard electronic equipment. This unit is specifically tailored for use in fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, command vehicles, marine vessels, and other specialty vehicles where reliable electrical systems are essential. The NAV-PAC helps protect MDTs, GPS systems, chart plotters, computers, and other critical electronics from voltage spikes, power surges, electrical noise, momentary power interruptions, and abrupt voltage changes that can cause equipment failures or data loss. By ensuring consistent power delivery, the NAV-PAC supports the continuous operation of vital systems in demanding environments.
The NAV-PAC integrates multiple power protection functions into a single compact system, making it an ideal solution for vehicles with sensitive electronic components. It includes voltage stabilization, electrical noise filtering, voltage spike protection, internal battery backup, timed disconnect, and low-voltage battery protection. The unit is equipped with an internal 5 Ah sealed rechargeable lead-acid battery that is maintained and recharged by the vehicle's electrical system. When input voltage drops or vehicle power is lost, the internal battery automatically steps in to keep connected equipment running. This feature ensures that critical systems remain operational even during unexpected power outages.
The internal backup battery can supply 8 amps for 15 minutes, 12 amps for 8 minutes, or 15 amps for 2 minutes. An integrated timer automatically disconnects the output approximately 15 minutes after loss of input power, helping prevent excessive battery discharge and extending the life of the internal battery. The NAV-PAC also filters electrical interference from audio frequencies through 200 MHz and provides protection against voltage spikes rated up to 100 joules and 4,000 amps maximum. This level of protection ensures that sensitive electronics are shielded from potential damage caused by electrical disturbances. An optional configuration with a front-panel power switch is available for applications requiring manual control over the power supply.
