Spec SheetThe Square D Type CC thermal overload unit is engineered to safeguard motors, controllers, and branch circuit conductors from excessive heating caused by prolonged over currents, including locked rotor conditions. It operates by passing motor current through a small heater winding. Under overload conditions, heat melts a special solder, allowing a ratchet wheel to spin free and open control circuit contacts, thereby disconnecting the motor.
This thermal unit responds to overloads according to trip curves and trips in 20 seconds or less. Proper selection is based on the motor's full load current and a corresponding selection table. The unit features a one-piece construction for durability and ease of installation.
