Spec SheetThe Square D Type CC thermal overload unit is engineered to safeguard motors, controllers, and branch-circuit conductors from excessive heating caused by prolonged motor over-currents. It features a melting alloy thermal element and responds to overload conditions according to trip curves, trip in 20 seconds or less.
This thermal unit has a one-piece construction where the motor current passes through a small heater winding. Under overload conditions, heat melts a special solder, allowing a ratchet wheel to spin free, which opens the control circuit contacts and disconnects the motor contacts.
